We turned a billable bottleneck into a product.

A service that cost hundreds of pounds and hours of a consultant's time — reviewing workplace documents for bias — is now a self-service AI product that does the same job for a fraction of the price, in minutes. Live in production since June 2026.

The best service in the business — and the slowest to scale

This consultancy is genuinely good at spotting bias in workplace documents — job descriptions, policies, performance frameworks — and rewriting them so they’re fairer. The problem is that “genuinely good” was tied to a human being. Every review meant a consultant at £100–200 an hour reading a document line by line, which added up to roughly £300–400 per engagement and a real chunk of a working day.

That’s a lovely margin on a slow day and a hard ceiling on a busy one. You can’t clone your best reviewer, you can’t do a hundred documents at once, and you certainly can’t offer it at a price a smaller client would pay. The expertise was real. The delivery model was the bottleneck.

Debiaser.ai — the expertise, productised

We built a self-service web app that packages that review process into software. A customer uploads their documents and — before a single AI call runs — sees a transparent, credit-based price quote, so there are never any surprises. The system then runs an AI-powered bias analysis and returns two things: a “redline”-style report with inline, severity-marked findings and quoted evidence, and a fully revised, de-biased version of the document in its original format — Word, Excel, PowerPoint or PDF.

It’s built for real organisations, not just individuals: shared credit pools, approval workflows for enterprise buyers, live card payments with automatic VAT handling, and privacy baked in — uploaded documents auto-delete after seven days.

The result is the consultancy’s expertise, available on demand, at a price point that opens up an entirely new tier of customer.

The one number that changes the business

Here’s the shift, straight from the work: a review that used to mean hours of consultant time at £100–200 an hour — roughly £300–400 per engagement — is now a self-service task that costs the customer £10–80 and completes in minutes.

That’s not a discount. It’s a different kind of business. A service that could only ever be sold a few times a day, to clients who could stomach the price, is now a product that can run any number of documents at once, around the clock, for clients who’d never have booked the consultant version. A bottlenecked billable service became a scalable revenue line — without giving up the rigour that made it worth buying.

Transparent, private, and properly shipped

Two principles shaped the build. First, no surprises: the customer sees the price before any AI runs, so trust is never in question. Second, privacy by default: documents auto-delete after seven days, and the whole thing runs on EU infrastructure.

And it’s genuinely shipped — live in production since June 2026, now running in a governed maintenance-and-improvement mode. This isn’t a prototype that demoed well and died. It’s a real product doing real work for real money.
